Magnesium is one of the most essential minerals your body needs to live. This mineral plays a fundamental role in more than 300 processes in the body! What are the symptoms of magnesium deficiency?
When there’s not enough magnesium in your body, you will start to notice. A shortage of magnesium will increase the levels of adrenaline, which leaves the body in a state of alertness like you could be in danger any time, all the time.
Your blood pressure will rise and your heartbeat goes up. This can become a vicious cycle, because stress extracts magnesium from the body.
When you suffer from regular trembling eyelids, headaches, depression, stiffness and restless legs at night or anxiety, this could be a direct cause of a lack of magnesium.
How can I get my daily magnesium intake?
Leafy greens like spinach and Swiss chard are excellent sources of magnesium. Quinoa, millet, buckwheat and brown rice are also great for boosting your magnesium intake. Beans, nuts and seeds are rich in magnesium as well, like almonds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, black beans, kidney beans and lima beans. Dark chocolate with at least 70% cacao also contains magnesium.
Make sure that your products are organic to get the most of their benefits. The soil where we grow our crops on isn?t as fertile as it used to be, which means it contains less nutrients. With organic produce, the amount of nutrients is usually higher.
When your diet doesn’t provide you with enough magnesium, you can also take supplements. They’re available in different types, like pill or powder form, or magnesium you can use on your skin. Supplements can help if you suffer from stress or the mentioned symptoms mentioned above.
